Christchurch based oil painter, Debbie Scott, has been developing a series of vibrant impressionistic treescapes that capture the eye with their exciting use of saturated colour. Coming from a graphic design background, she has a strong sense for good composition and harmonious colour combinations which are evident in this recent series. After a busy 20+ years raising three boys, she now turns her attention towards growing her own dream of being a serious artist. She is an active plein air painter and enjoys getting out to paint all manner of landscapes. She is also a keen portrait painter with a talent for capturing a good likeness of her subjects, she paints a portrait every week to keep improving in that space. Born in 1975, Debbie graduated with a media arts degree in 1997 and decided to pursue graphic design which turned out to be the perfect fit with motherhood for the next 20+ years. But painting was always her first love and she is excited now to finally find her way back into that space.
