My artistic inspiration comes from nature in all it’s forms. Currently I am particularly fascinated by the transitions ever present in our environment – changes in weather patterns, contrasting terrains, sounds carried and movements made – these transitions mirror the life stages through which we all navigate. Most of my current works feature birds which I connect with as characters to convey my own journey (emotions felt, experiences gained and challenges faced.) I love to spend time engaging with birds and cherish each interaction. All my paintings feature small repetitive marks in some form, often indicating movement, sounds or natures minutiae, an obsession with it’s roots planted deeply in my childhood. For me these marks also represent the human spirit in my work and re-inforce my personal connection to the land and the wonderful creatures that we share it with.
