About Green-Gold Gallery: Green-Gold Gallery, located in the heart of Geraldine, is dedicated to showcasing contemporary art. Exhibiting a dynamic collection of never-before-seen artworks, showcasing the talent and vision of Te Waipounamu’s most prominent and active living artists. Our exhibitions invite visitors to explore and collect these exceptional pieces, celebrating the rich diversity of contemporary art in the region. We are open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am-5pm.
Role Overview: We are seeking two practical, energetic and friendly Gallery Assistants to join our Gallery in Geraldine. This is a customer focused role and will involve selling artwork in the gallery and supporting the digital and social media marketing efforts for the gallery. You’ll work alongside the Gallery Director to keep things running smoothly, create successful sales, and ensure our customers leave with a smile.

Responsibilities:
- Provide a welcoming and engaging experience for visitors, offering information on the art and artists.
- Be proactive in the sale of artworks be friendly and provide excellent customer service.
- Assist with retail activities, including handling payments and managing inquiries.
- Handle general administrative duties and exhibition-related tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organised gallery environment, ensuring the safety of artworks and visitors.
- Work on digital and social media posts to promote the gallery and its exhibitions.
- Handle the packaging of artworks when sold.
Skills and Experience:
- Strong sales skills and excellent customer service abilities.
- Friendly, with excellent communication skills.
- Practical and hands-on approach to handling artwork.
- Strong eye for detail and good organisational skills.
- Comfortable with digital tools and social media.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks when the gallery is quiet.
- Desire to learn and grow within a creative, artistic environment.
Contract Details:
- Part-time position, approximately 14 hours per week.
- Weekend availability is required (Saturday or Sunday), plus shifts on Thursday and Friday.
- $25 per hour, with extra commission on the sale of artworks.
