Michael Phillip Bennett Biography

Based in a sleepy New Zealand village nestled into the wall of a peaceful volcano overlooking Whakaraupo, Lyttelton Harbour you’ll find Michael, known as Mick, tinkering away in his studio. After 25 years of developing skills and techniques from various trades, he slowly began to blend them with his passion for creativity. Drawing inspiration from nature, Mick has been developing unique figurative sculptures from Earths own supply of copper and wood. Working mostly with the precious metal, the copper is hand cut then layered to the desired shape, clamped and brazed. Further internal reinforcing guarantees a high-quality structure, fit to last the elements if you desire an outdoor sculpture or situated inside your personal space where the skill and detail can be closely admired.
