Susannah Law Biography

New Zealand provides inspiration as both background matter and central focus, its beauty providing an ever-present sense of awe.I’m drawn to the impacts and interrelationships of animal’s, humans, and our natural world, what is lost, what remains, and how conservation endeavours to sustain our environment. My current works are looking at predators, impacts on our wildlife and DOC workers who look after our land and species. As a painter I endeavour to capture the essence of my own country and the peoples who live here while creating my own narrative. I am drawn to developing this through nature and conservation themes and so predominately I’m an ecological artist.I have been involved in many successful exhibitions selling works nationally and internationally for decades. winning numerous art awards since I was a child, the most recent being the ‘Our People our place award’ at Waitakere art show in 2022 and HBC Bayes art awards 2023.
