Perfect for artists seeking to immerse themselves into traditional techniques, Rachael’s wealth of expertise promises to unlock many secrets of this stunning art form and give you much hands-on practice with genuine gold leaf.

ABOUT RACHAEL LINTON:

Rachael Linton, a New Zealand-born artist based in the UK, is a skilled gilder specialising in pure gold leaf applications on various surfaces, frames, furniture, fine art, boats and buildings. Establishing Tilia Gilding in 2014, she was a freelance gilder for 8 years in the UK, she now takes commissions for restoring old frames and creating custom gilt frames and objects from her studio in Geraldine, New Zealand. With expertise in traditional techniques, Rachael has contributed to notable projects, including gilding the Queen’s robing room at Westminster Palace, teaching at the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and gilding the Cutty Sark.

Linton is the new Gallery Director at the Green-Gold Gallery, an accomplished exhibiting artist with over 50 shows in the past decade across NZ, the UK and Europe. She is recognised for her contributions to gilding, the art and science of cymatics, and her interactive digital art installations.

Linton draws on her background in gold leaf gilding and traditional verre églomisé techniques to paint cymatics (sonic sound waves) onto both glass and wood panel in her fine art paintings. She uses fine art pigments, genuine gold powders and precious metal leaf to create luster and luxury.

Linton has a Masters qualification from Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand, and brings a blend of artistic and academic expertise to her gilding work.
